DeFur Voran Welcomes Christi Brock to its New Castle Office

DeFur Voran welcomes Christi Brock to its New Castle office.

“I grew up in New Castle, raised my own family here, and I continue to live and work in Henry County. I look forward to joining Jon Madison, Jim Millikan, and David Brock in their endeavors to serve the neighbors of our community,” Christi Brock.

Christi served as a deputy prosecutor of felonies, misdemeanors, infractions, and juvenile cases for the last 10 years, serving as sole counsel in multiple jury trials, assisting law enforcement in investigations, and supporting victims of crimes. She prosecuted all types of cases, from drug cases to sex crimes, including a successful jury trial outcome and conviction in a Level 1 Felony Rape case. “It was my greatest privilege to advocate for the survivors of crime, especially women and children.”

Over the years, Christi has also participated in civil practice, worked as a public defender, clerked for the New Castle City Court, and managed a legal aid program. She supports local non-profit organizations, including past participation in the building and renovation of the Aquatic Center at Baker Park and the current efforts to build trails and encourage quality-of-life initiatives by Healthy Communities of Henry County.

“My parents, Dave and Carrie Copenhaver, made New Castle their home. My mom taught for several years at Wilbur Wright Elementary, and she gave her heart and time to her students and school. As an attorney, my dad helped begin the initiative to revitalize downtown New Castle, and he spent countless evenings in town hall meetings all over Henry County. When you grow up with these examples, you can’t help internalizing and adopting the commitment to community. And I continue to be inspired by my family, including my husband Mark Brock, who serves as general manager for Grede Foundry and works to provide safe, reliable jobs in New Castle, and my sister, Kelly Harvey, who teaches at a local elementary school.”

“We are very excited to add Christi to our team,” said Rob Emmerson, Managing Partner. “Her local ties and experience will help us serve Henry County and surrounding areas. Christi will be invaluable to our clients, both individuals and businesses alike, and she immediately enhances the exceptional legal services we offer to our clients.”

DeFur Voran assists clients in many areas, including estate planning, guardianship, business, commercial, real estate, and litigation.
