Super Lawyers List
Scott E. Shockley, Steven D. Murphy, Nick Tokar and Matt Kelsey, attorneys with the Muncie-based firm of DeFur Voran, have been named to the Indiana Super Lawyers list for 2016. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding attorneys from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of professional achievement and peer recognition. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Attorneys selected as Super Lawyers represent the top 5% of lawyers in each state. Rising Stars are attorneys who represent the top 2.5% of attorneys who are 40 years or younger and have been practicing law for less than ten years.
This is the tenth time since 2004 that Scott Shockley has been named to the Super Lawyers list. He practices in the areas of Litigation, Personal Injury, Employment Law and Business Disputes. He joined DeFur Voran in 1985, and previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Indianapolis and Chief Deputy District Attorney for Denver, Colorado. He is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Denver School of Law.
Steven D. Murphy returns to the Super Lawyers list this year for his work in Alternative Dispute Resolution. He has been with DeFur Voran since 1976 and practices primarily in the areas of Mediation, Education Law, and Municipal Law. He is a graduate of Wabash College and Duke University School of Law.
This is the third consecutive selection as Rising Stars for Nick Tokar and Matt Kelsey. Tokar focuses his practice on Business Law, Financial Institutions, Agribusiness, Education Law and Estate Planning and Administration. He is a graduate of Minnesota State University and the University of Minnesota Law School. Kelsey concentrates his practice on Litigation, Education Law, Business Law and Estate Planning and Administration. Kelsey graduated from Ball State University and Indiana University School of Law.
