DeFur Voran is proud to announce that three of its attorneys have been selected for inclusion in the 2025 Indiana Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists. This recognition, awarded by Super Lawyers, a rating service that honors lawyers demonstrating exceptional peer recognition and professional achievement in over 70 practice areas, reflects the firm’s commitment to excellence. The Super Lawyers selection process utilizes independent research, peer nominations, and evaluations.

Scott Shockley – This is the 19th time since 2004 that Scott Shockley has been named to the Super Lawyers list. He practices in our Muncie office in the areas of Litigation, Personal Injury, Employment Law, and Business Disputes. He joined DeFur Voran in 1985 and previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Indianapolis and Chief Deputy District Attorney for Denver, Colorado. He is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Denver School of Law.

Daniel Rey-Silva – Daniel is being recognized for the third time as a Rising Star. Prior to joining DeFur Voran in 2022, Daniel focused his practice on family law and litigation. He is a bilingual attorney now serving in our Immigration Law Group in Fishers. Daniel is a graduate of IUPUI and the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Joseph Rhetts – This is Joe’s first time being named as a Rising Star.  Based in our Muncie office, his practice includes business, government, real estate, land use and zoning, property taxes, and economic development and redevelopment. A graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Joe joined the firm in 2022.
